…than Joe Edwards. Hawaiian button-downs, electric blue, white with blue flowers – it’s nice to see someone who’s not afraid of color. Joe is a St. Louis icon. He owns a slew of restaurants and venues including Blueberry Hill, and recently opened the Moonrise Hotel and Eclipse restaurant. He has been spearheading efforts to revitalize the University City Loop since at least as far back as the 1970s, and if you’ve been there lately, you know it has worked.
This is the first in my portrait series of St. Louis restaurateurs shot for the October issue of ALIVE magazine, which hit newsstands on Friday. I’ll post the rest of the portraits here in the coming days. Special thanks to art directors Annette Gleason and David Hsia, and photo assistant Doug Garfield for working so hard on this project. Whether or not you think we were successful, we certainly would have been less so without their efforts.
